Remember when we used to fight with those old Cessna 172 cowl fasteners? Found a fix with a piece of fuel line.

What year was it when you finally gave up on those things? I spent more time with a flathead screwdriver and a bruised knuckle than I did actually flying some days. The fuel line trick is a classic, right up there with safety wire and duct tape for keeping old birds in the air. It's funny how the simplest fixes are often the ones that last the longest.

So @the_olivia, what was the final straw that made you quit?

My uncle had a '78 Cessna that ran on hope and baling wire. He swore by a zip tie on the throttle linkage for five years straight. What's the weirdest fix you've seen actually work?
