Spent $180 on a set of safety wire pliers and they saved my knuckles in a big way

I was always cheaping out with the $30 pliers from the tool truck and fighting with kinked wire on engine work. Finally broke down and got the fancy ones from Aircraft Spruce last month and it cut my time on safety wire jobs by almost half. Anyone else notice a big difference once you upgraded your wire twisters?

Totally agree, made the same switch and never looked back.

I mean, "never looked back" is such a perfect way to put it. That reminds me of when I swapped out my old coffee maker for a French press a couple years ago, and it was the same kind of thing. @logan_mitchell I know it's totally different from what you guys are talking about, but the whole "better stability and less downtime" thing reminds me of how I don't have to deal with burnt coffee or weird plastic tastes anymore. It's not cheaper upfront either, since you have to buy the grinder and the beans, but the coffee just tastes so much smoother. Idk, it's like once you get used to the better version, you can't even imagine going back to the old one.

Yeah "never looked back" is exactly how I feel too. I actually read this article a few weeks ago that broke down the numbers on how many people are switching and why. It said most people who switch notice better stability and less downtime compared to the old way. That matches my experience perfectly. The article also pointed out that the upfront cost is higher but you save money in the long run because you aren't constantly paying for upgrades. I think people who haven't tried it yet just don't realize how much smoother things run on the other side.
