Appreciation post: The guy in the Denver hardware store who saved my Saturday
I was buying a 12 volt power supply for a job, and he asked if I needed a 2 amp or a 5 amp, then explained the voltage drop over 100 feet of wire. What's the best piece of random advice you've gotten from a stranger?

Read a forum post where a guy learned how to properly size a water heater from a plumber at the bus stop.

My neighbor's cousin once fixed a busted fuel line with a pen and some duct tape after his truck died on a back road. Makes @the_max's gas station jump start look like a professional garage visit. The guy was a total stranger who just happened to be walking his dog.

Man at the gas station taught me how to jump a dead battery.

Question whether a gas station jump start really needs to be a whole life lesson like @jakeb81s water heater saga.
