Customer told me my panel placement was ugly and she was right
I put a new panel in a mudroom closet because it was the easiest spot. The homeowner said it looked like a wart on the wall. Now I always sketch the sightlines first even if it adds 20 minutes to the install. Any of you had a customer call you out on something that actually made you better?

Are you saying she made you better by being rude about it though? I mean yeah, feedback is feedback, but calling it a wart on the wall sounds like she was just being mean for no reason. I've had customers tell me they didn't like something and I listened, but I don't think getting insulted made me better at my job. Sketching out sightlines sounds like a solid habit anyway, it's more about being thorough than fixing something broken.

Some people just confuse being harsh with being helpful and don't realize the difference matters most.

@rileygarcia Yeah I get what you're saying. Honestly I think part of it was just her personality, she was blunt with everyone not just me. In my experience, sometimes the delivery stings so bad you actually remember the lesson forever, which is kind of a weird silver lining I guess. I've had plenty of nice feedback that I nodded along to and forgot within a week. But getting called out like that? Sticks with you. I'm just glad I didn't cry in front of her or anything, that would've been a whole other level of embarrassing.
