Had a customer in Denver argue with me for 20 minutes that his motion detector was broken because his cat kept setting it off

Told me he'd rather buy a new panel than just move the sensor 2 feet higher, so I charged him $150 for the visit and he was happy about it.

Man, that is such a classic customer move. I swear people get weirdly attached to their bad ideas sometimes. Like my buddy once spent an hour arguing that his smoke detector was "haunted" because it kept going off when he made toast. I told him to just move the toaster, but nope, he bought a whole new detector and was proud of it. Sometimes you just gotta let people pay for their own logic, you know?

Honestly, that whole "haunted smoke detector" bit is hilarious. But it's part of a bigger pattern I notice everywhere. People would rather believe in ghosts or magic than admit they made a simple mistake. @viola_lopez30 you're right, it's like they get attached to their story more than the solution. I see it with friends who blame traffic for being late even when they left late. It's just easier to cling to a fun explanation than face the boring truth. Sometimes you just have to step back and let them learn the hard way.
