My boss had us try a drone for site checks and it was a mess
He bought a cheap drone to check roof access points. It quickly flew into a tree and set off the neighbor's motion sensor. We spent an hour explaining to the home owner why there was a buzzing noise in their backyard. Never again.

Ever try to save money with cheap gear and regret it? I used to think any drone could do basic jobs, but stories like this make me see why good tools matter. What finally made your boss give up on the drone idea?

Read an article where a farm survey went wrong because a drone flew into a cow field and scared the animals. The cheap ones really don't handle wind well at all. Your boss picking a budget option for roof checks is asking for exactly this kind of story. That neighbor chat sounds painfully awkward.

My cousin tried a budget drone for his real estate photos last year. It got caught in a light breeze and ended up in a client's swimming pool. Stories like that farm survey just prove you can't cut corners with things that fly.

That drone story is exactly why cheap gear fails. Ross.tara is right about the wind problem with budget drones. They are just not built for real work like roof checks. Your boss should have spent a bit more for something stable. Otherwise, you end up with angry neighbors and lost time.
