Old panel swap brought back a habit I thought I'd lost

Pulled an ancient DSC panel out of a church basement last week, the kind with the tiny transformer that always buzzes. I followed the old wire labels out of habit and found the zone numbers didn't match the new keypad's mapping, so the whole system tripped during a Sunday service. Anyone else ever trust the old markings and pay for it in a public place?

Used to swear by those old labels, figured the guy who wired it knew what he was doing. Then I had a similar thing happen in a rec center gym, and the alarm went off during a kids basketball game. Now I check every map against the panel before I even think about powering it up, saved myself more than once.
