Pulled my first solo residential install in Austin without needing backup
I've been doing commercial mostly for two years, but my boss threw me a house in the Mueller neighborhood last Tuesday. Got there at 8am with a Vista 21iP and four wireless sensors, all new to me in a residential setting. The homeowner wanted a glass break detector in the master bedroom and I managed to mount it without drilling into a pipe. Finished by 1pm, programmed the keypad, and the test call went through on the first try. Anyone else have that moment where a simple install finally clicked for you?

Funny how the thing that made it click for you was probably the glass break sensor placement. Nobody talks about how satisfying it is to get a mount right in a tricky spot without hitting something buried in the wall. My first solo went smooth too but I spent an extra hour second-guessing every wire because I kept thinking I missed something. Once you realize the design is usually simpler than you make it in your head, you're golden. Also helps that Mueller's a newer area so the walls aren't full of surprises like old houses in Zilker.

@logan658 actually mueller has some sketchy old repurposed wiring in parts so you def gotta watch out
