Rant: Spent $600 on a wireless bridge that barely lasted 6 months
I put in a Ubiquiti wireless bridge to connect a detached garage to the main house for an alarm panel. Cost me about $600 with the mounting gear and everything. Worked great for maybe 4 months, then started dropping signal every time a big truck drove by. Had to run conduit and bury Ethernet instead. Anyone else had bad luck with wireless for permanent alarm uplinks?

@drewr15 you totally nailed it with the "fragile" thing. People think wireless is this set-it-and-forget-it solution when really it's just a bunch of radio waves fighting against wind, trees, and random trucks. It's the same pattern with smart home stuff, everyone assumes the tech is magic until real life smacks into it.

600 dollars for six months is rough. I've noticed this pattern with wireless in general, like people think it's gonna be this magic fix but it ALWAYS gets messed up by real world stuff. Trees, trucks, even heavy rain takes it down. I think we get sold on the convenience but forget how fragile radio signals actually are.
