Spent $380 on a cellular dialer backup, best money I ever put in a panel
Installed a Honeywell system for a client outside Austin and the landline went dead during a storm last spring. Their panel was useless for 3 days because I skimped on the cellular dialer upfront, just used the POTS line. After that headache, I bought a dual-path communicator for $380 and swapped it in myself. Now every install I push for cellular, even if the customer wants to cheap out first. That $380 saved me a callback and a reputation hit, worth every penny. Anyone else refuse to wire a panel without a dialer backup these days?

You ever notice how customers only wanna pay for the cheap option until the ONE time it bites them in the ass? Then suddenly that $380 backup sounds like the best deal in the world. I swear, half this job is just waiting for the "I told you so" moment to hit. Good on you for learning it before the client had to sue you for lost business or something. I don't blame you for pushing cellular now, thats just common sense with a side of self preservation.
