That cheap wireless alarm panel I nearly passed on surprised me
I was getting ready to install a new system for a customer in a rental property last month and the budget was tight. They wanted something they could manage themselves without a contract. I was about to order my usual wired setup but decided to try that new all-in-one wireless panel from Ajax instead. It set up in about 20 minutes and the range on the sensors has been rock solid for the last 3 weeks. Any of you guys had good luck with a brand you were skeptical about at first?

That Ajax panel surprised me too, to be honest. A buddy of mine had an older wireless system a few years back that was nothing but constant dropouts and false alarms, so I was pretty skeptical about cutting the cord. But I had a similar situation with a quick install for a buddy's cabin, and the thing has been running without a hitch for about a month now, way better than I expected. The setup was almost too easy, felt like I was missing something, but it's been rock solid since. Sometimes you just gotta take a chance on the cheap stuff and hope it's a good batch.

Right? "Way better than I expected" is exactly how I felt. That easy setup is kinda SKETCHY at first but honestly it's refreshing.

I mean, I get that you're happy with it so far, but a month isn't exactly a long time to test something out. Wireless security stuff has a bad reputation for a reason, and a cabin that nobody's in full time is a perfect setup for a system to quietly fail when you need it most. I'd still trust a hardwired panel over something that sends a signal through the air, even if the install takes a whole afternoon.
