That fancy cellular dialer turned out to be junk after a lightning storm
Back in March I installed a new LTE communicator on a ranch setup outside Cheyenne. Company pitched it as the toughest thing on the market, so I skipped the dual-path option to save the customer about $200. Three weeks later a storm rolled through and the module fried, no signal at all. The old phone line unit I'd replaced was still sitting in my truck, so I threw it back in and it worked fine. Now I check surge protection on every cellular job, no matter what the sales sheet claims. Anyone else seen these LTE boxes die from a nearby strike or did I just get a bad one?

Lightning probably didn't kill it, the power supply did. Bad luck, not bad gear.
