Unpopular opinion: I saw a system fail in a big way at a condo in Tampa and now I'm against wireless sensors for anything critical.

It was a high-end job with those fancy wireless contacts on every door and window. A week after we finished, a storm knocked out the cell backup for the main panel, and the whole thing went down because the sensors couldn't talk to it. The client's patio door got forced open and the siren never made a sound. I know everyone loves the easy install, but that day convinced me hardwired is the only way for the main entry points. Anyone else had a wireless setup fail when it really mattered?

That cell backup failure... makes you wonder about all the other single points of failure too.

Totally get that. My home server went down once because the one UPS died. Now I run two smaller ones in parallel. Redundant power supplies in the PC were a game changer too. It's about finding those weak links and adding a cheap backup.

My old boss in Phoenix always said a wireless sensor is just a battery with a problem.
