Choosing between a new roof and a kitchen reno in Calgary was tough

I mean, the kitchen was falling apart but the roof had a leak near the chimney. I went with the roof last fall for about $12,000, and honestly it was the right call before winter hit. Anyone in Edmonton or Lethbridge had to make a similar choice between fixing something boring but necessary versus a fun upgrade?

Honestly, I'd have picked the kitchen (a leak is one thing, but daily life matters more).

Yeah, the "daily life matters more" part is so true. A leak feels like a big emergency (and it is), but you still have to eat and live in your house.
