Finally tried that radiant barrier stuff in my attic last summer

I was real skeptical about putting aluminum foil up there, figured it was just marketing hype. After a 35 degree day in Calgary, my upstairs was 5 degrees cooler than before. Now I'm a believer, has anyone else tested the temp difference?

Honestly, did you measure the temp difference on the same days or was it just a one off? I tried it too and barely noticed a change of maybe 1 or 2 degrees, not 5. I think a lot of it depends on your attic insulation and airflow.

Buddy tried it and said his thermometer barely budged.

Definitely depends on having good airflow up there too.

Did you make sure you used the right kind with the reflective side facing down and an air gap? I think a lot of people screw up the install and then blame the product lol.
