Found out my neighbor's water bill was half mine...
I always thought being on a well was the cheaper option, but my neighbor in Red Deer showed me his municipal water bill last week and it was $45 a month compared to my $90 pump maintenance and electricity. Turns out I was replacing filters way too often and my pressure tank was set wrong the whole time. Has anyone else done the math on well vs. city water around here?

Found my pressure tank was set way too high too, fixed it and cut my electric bill in half.

Cut it in half? That's a big savings. Should've checked mine years ago then.

Yeah, it's wild how much difference it makes. I had the same issue with my own tank a couple years back. I just grabbed an inexpensive pressure gauge from the hardware store and checked it. Turned out mine was set to 45 PSI when it only needed 28, so I bled some air out and the pump stopped kicking on every time someone flushed the toilet. It's one of those simple fixes that's totally worth the ten minutes.
