Got burned by a furnace inspection quote, bought a $60 carbon monoxide detector instead
The HVAC guy wanted $400 to tell me my 18 year old furnace was fine so I grabbed a detector from Rona in Medicine Hat and it's been reading zero for 2 weeks now, has anyone else just skipped the inspection when the unit is this old?

That detector catching zero means nothing for carbon monoxide leaks in summer, your furnace could still crack in January.
