My garage door opener in Calgary just stopped working and it took me three days to figure out why

It started with a loud grinding noise and then nothing. I thought it was the motor or the chain, so I spent a whole evening checking those. The next day, I called a friend who said it might be the safety sensors. I cleaned them, realigned them, but still nothing. I was about to call a pro when I finally noticed the tiny wall control panel. The little 'lock' button was pressed in, which I guess my kid hit by accident. That feature completely disables the remote. I felt so silly. From grinding noise to a hidden button, three days of my life. Has anyone else in a newer build had issues with overly sensitive safety features on their garage doors?

Spent an hour looking at the chain before my wife walked over and just pushed the lock button. Felt like a total genius. @the_susan is right, it's always the first thing to check.

Check the lock button first, always.

The lock button fails more than you think.

Honestly used to think checking the lock was too obvious. After the third time it was the actual problem, I finally learned. Tbh it's just the easiest fix to try first.
