Paid $120 for a water softener that made my pipes rattle like a haunted house
Last month I installed a cheap water softener from a Calgary big box store and now every time it regenerates at 3 AM my whole basement sounds like a drum circle. The rattling woke up my kids twice and my neighbor actually asked if I was doing renovations. Has anyone else dealt with this or should I just rip it out and call a pro?

Funny how we pay good money for things that end up making our lives harder, right? Seems like every “cheap fix” I’ve ever bought just creates a new, sneakier problem down the road. It’s like the universe has a rule about shortcuts, especially with anything that touches water or electricity in your house. Honestly, that rattling probably means the pressure or flow is off, which can shorten the life of the whole unit anyway. I’d get a pro to look at it before you decide to rip it out, but yeah, sometimes the initial cost just isn’t worth the 3 AM surprise concerts...
