PSA: Found a cracked pipe in my basement in Red Deer and learned what a shutoff valve actually does
Stood in my basement in Red Deer at 11pm on a Tuesday watching water drip from a copper pipe onto my furnace, and after 20 minutes of panic I remembered the main shutoff valve in the closet under the stairs. Turned it, the drip stopped, and the plumber quoted me $480 the next morning to swap a 12 inch section of pipe. Does anyone know a cheaper way to fix one of these small leaks, or am I just paying the $480?
