Serious question: is spray foam insulation actually worth the hassle?

I paid $4,200 to have my attic done with closed cell spray foam back in March. Now my upstairs bedroom smells like burnt plastic every time the sun hits the roof for more than 3 hours. The installer says it's just 'off-gassing' and to wait it out. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of odor months later or did I waste my money on a bad crew?

Wait, burnt plastic smell for months? That sounds way off.

Rented a dehumidifier and ran it in the attic for 48 hours straight with the vents cracked open. Cleared up the smell in about a week. Also picked up a cheap VOC meter off Amazon just to keep an eye on things. Might help push the off-gassing along faster if you try that.

My buddy Mike rented one of those and said it pulled almost 4 gallons of water out of his crawlspace in one day.
