That $600 water softener I installed backwards

Bought a water softener from a guy in Airdrie last fall and figured I could save on install costs. Took me the whole weekend to wire it up and I had it backwards, water was going out the wrong port. Had to call a plumber anyway who charged $250 to redo it, plus the unit never worked right so I pulled it out. Anyone else paid the DIY tax on something they should have just hired out from the start?

So you knew enough to wire it up but not enough to check the flow direction before calling it done?
