My resume got auto-rejected 47 times in one week before I figured out the trick

Last Tuesday I sent out 18 applications for a data analyst role and got 0 callbacks. By Thursday I was at 27 rejections and started digging into why. Turns out my resume was using a format that ATS systems couldn't parse at all. I reformatted it over the weekend using a simple single-column layout with standard section headers. Now I'm at 3 interviews scheduled. Has anyone else had a screening algorithm completely kill their job hunt?

Hate that for you, it's brutal out there. I had a buddy get ghosted for weeks before realizing his graphics-heavy resume was just gibberish to the bots. Swapping to a plain text file with no tables or columns turned everything around. It's wild how one little formatting issue can waste days of your life. Glad you caught it and got interviews lined up.

I had all these fancy icons and columns thinking it looked professional but the ATS just saw a mess. @amy_craig28 I feel your buddies pain because I spent a whole weekend reformatting mine too. Once I stripped everything down to basic text with clear section headers like "Work Experience" and "Education" the callbacks started rolling in. Its frustrating because you think you're making your resume stand out but really you're just making it invisible to the machines. I had to learn the hard way that if the bot cant read it, a human never sees it.

Exactly, if the bots can't parse it then your fancy layout might as well be a blank page to employers.
