Our local water board debates got replaced by a scheduling program
We used to gather in the community center every spring to argue over irrigation times for the drought. Now some software sets the schedule based on past use data and property size. Last season it gave my neighbor with a big garden the same slot as a small lawn, which caused a real stir. They had to show proof of their drip system to get a better time. It's wild how these systems can miss the human details in going green.

Our town added a simple form for exceptions.

Oh great, the computers are handing out water slots like everyone has the same size shoes. My neighbor had to bring receipts for his drip lines just to get a fair shake. So much for smart tech, now we get to fill out forms like @jademitchell said, which is just arguing with a spreadsheet but slower. Guess 'going green' means trading one headache for a whole new pile of paperwork.

Save all your water receipts digitally, makes arguing with the spreadsheet WAY easier.

Exactly, it's like they built a system for a perfect lawn that doesn't exist. My cousin had to submit photos of her garden beds last year, and they still cut her allotment because their system flagged a patch of clover as "non-essential greenery." Just more hoops to jump through.
