Rant: New insurance rating tools are hitting drivers in my neighborhood hard.
Folks with clean records are seeing their rates jump because of where they live, not how they drive.

They told him it's because our zip code had more claims last year? That's insane. A forty year clean record wiped out because someone else a few streets over crashed their car. How is that even legal, it just rewards bad drivers and screws the careful ones.

That can't be right. My neighbor has driven for forty years without so much as a speeding ticket, and his premium just doubled. They told him it's because our zip code had more claims last year. So his perfect record means nothing? It punishes safe drivers for other people's accidents. The whole point of insurance was to rate the driver, not the map.

Had the same thing happen last year. Called up and asked if they could check my driving record again, and it helped. Why should we pay for others' mistakes, right? @king.val nailed it.
