Spent $240 on a bias audit tool, the free open source option did more
I run a small lending startup in Columbus and paid for a commercial bias audit package last quarter. It gave me a 12 page PDF full of vague red flags but no actual remediation steps. Then I tried IBM's AIF360 toolkit for free and found three specific proxy variables in our model that the paid tool completely missed. Has anyone else had better luck with open source fairness libraries over the fancy vendors?
