Spent $500 on a 'fairness audit' for our hiring algorithm and it showed us nothing we didn't already know.

Our team brought in a consultant to check if our software was biased against older job seekers. The final report just said our data was too small to be sure, which we told them upfront. It felt like paying for a fancy stamp on our own concerns. Has anyone found a real, useful way to check an algorithm without spending a fortune?

Ugh, that's so frustrating... feels like they just took your money to tell you what you already said. What did the audit actually do? Like, did they run any tests on real resumes or just look at your code? I'd be mad if they didn't even try a simple check with fake profiles.

Man, this reminds me of when I paid a guy to check my car's weird noise. He popped the hood, nodded a lot, and handed me a bill saying "yep, it's making a noise." Total waste. Sounds like your audit was the tech version of that. They probably just skimmed the docs and called it a day without actually testing anything.

Well, they basically charged me to read my own notes back to me.
