That time a hiring algorithm told me I wasn't a good fit for a job I'd been doing for years

I applied for a position at a big retailer back in 2019 and got auto-rejected within 5 minutes. A friend who worked there told me the AI flagged my resume because I didn't use the exact keywords from their job posting, even though I had managed a similar department for 7 years. Has anyone else dealt with an algorithm that seemed to ignore actual experience in favor of matching buzzwords?

Not gonna lie, I kind of see the other side here. Companies get thousands of resumes for one job, and asking a human to read every single one isn't realistic anymore. If you can't be bothered to tweak your resume to match the key words they need, that kind of shows you didn't put in the effort to apply. The system is just looking for the people who actually read the posting and cared enough to match it.
