Tried to appeal a credit denial based on an algorithm, got a form letter back that looped me to the same chatbot 4 times
After getting denied for a car loan at a local credit union here in Phoenix, I requested the algorithm's reasoning and got a response that literally said "your file has been processed" then directed me to an online chatbot that asked me to repeat my whole story. Has anyone actually gotten a human to explain an algorithmic decision, or is it just a theoretical right that doesn't really work?

Start wondering if that chatbot was trained on the form letter itself...

Nah, form letters are way too formulaic for that to happen.

Wonder if @blake792 ever thought that sometimes the "formula" IS the point, like a secret code that only AI would miss. Maybe the real clues are in the tiny details we gloss over, not the big patterns.
