Why does nobody talk about job interviews being filtered by AI before a human even sees them?

I applied for a route planning job last week and got rejected within 5 minutes. Found out later the company runs all resumes through an algorithm that scans for specific keywords, and I missed one about "fleet optimization." Has anyone else had a hiring algorithm shut you out for something small like that?

Has your resume ever made it past an AI screener? I've been through this and now I just copy-paste the job description into a word cloud tool, then make sure those big words are scattered naturally through my resume. Works way better than guessing what they want.

I saw a study once that said AI screeners just look for exact keyword matches, so the word cloud thing makes total sense @leo_black76. Copying those big words naturally into your resume probably tricks the system into thinking you're a perfect fit. Might try that trick myself since my resume keeps getting ghosted.

My buddy works in HR and told me he watched a qualified applicant get filtered out because their resume used "truck routing" instead of "fleet optimization" in their summary, which is ridiculous. Kind of like what @gavin365 mentioned, he said a lot of companies don't even realize their AI screeners toss out good people for tiny word choices.
