Dropped $200 on a supposed alien alloy fragment from a Nebraska auction, now I'm not sure what to think
Last spring I bid on a small metal chunk the seller claimed came from a 1967 crash site near Omaha. He had photos of a weird glowing residue and a story about a farmer who found it plowing. It came in a sealed glass case with a certificate of authenticity from some outfit I can't find online anymore. When I got it, the metal is light but has these strange hexagonal patterns under a magnifier. Local geology club said it's just titanium slag from an old plant, but the weight doesn't match any alloy I can check. Has anyone else bought these auction items and sent a sample to a real lab? I'm debating spending another $150 for proper testing, but I've already sunk the $200, and I'd rather hear if anyone got burned or actually found something legit before I pour more money in.
