Remember when we all thought the Skinny Bob video was legit? I miss those simpler times.

I found an old hard drive last week with all those grainy alien autopsy clips I downloaded back in 2009. It's funny how the tech looked so real on a CRT monitor but now it just screams CGI when you blow it up on a 4K screen. Anyone else feel like the golden age of fake alien videos is over?

Yeah my old CRT made everything look legit including my face in the reflection.

and the way CRTs would make even crappy composite video look decent? @mark_ward youre so right about the reflection thing too. i used to have a little 13 inch sony trinitron in my bedroom and i swear the glass was like a funhouse mirror. my face would look all warped and stretched out depending on where i sat. plus you could see every single dust particle floating around in the room, made the whole thing feel like a weird 90s music video. it was almost too real in its own fake way.

Did you ever try putting a lamp behind you so the reflection looked like you were sitting in a weird TV glow halo? I used to angle my little RCA just right so my face would line up with the black border around the screen. Made it look like I was a ghost trapped in the static or something. It was basically free entertainment when the commercials came on.
