That sharp-eyed comment on my levitation video really made me re-evaluate
I posted a clip of what I thought was a hovering orb near my shed in Tulsa last spring. Everyone in the comments was calling it a drone or a balloon, but one guy said 'look at the shadow inconsistency on the grass.' I went back and watched it frame by frame, and sure enough the shadow was flickering in a way that didn't match the sun. I ended up realizing it was a spider web strand catching the light just right. Has anyone else had their mind changed by a single specific critique like that?

Dude my buddy spent three weeks filming a "ghost" that was just his own breath in the cold.

Yeah that 'shadow inconsistency' thing is wild. I actually just read an article about how our brains fill in a lot of what we think we see, especially with movement and light. It said we're basically pattern matching machines and we're really bad at noticing when the pattern is slightly off. So that guy calling out the shadow was basically training his brain to see the gaps. Makes me wonder how many other 'orb' videos are just spiderwebs or bugs. I bet if more people slowed stuff down like that, half the paranormal clips online would just be dust particles.

That 'gap in the pattern' thing is spot on, @foster.jordan - reminds me of the time I spent an hour chasing a headlamp reflection off my own glasses in a dark field.
