Update: I downloaded the original Roswell footage from 1997 instead of watching that remastered YouTube version, and it changed my whole take
Last Tuesday I pulled up that old clip on a forum archive instead of the cleaned up one everyone shares now. The remaster makes the craft edge look smooth and fake, but on the raw version there are two frames near the 4 second mark where the shadow moves wrong. I ran both side by side in VLC and the difference is night and day, one looks like CGI, the other looks like something actually blocking the sun. Has anyone else compared old rips to the new upscales, or am I just seeing compression artifacts?

Wait, two frames where the shadow moves wrong? That's the specific thing that gets me. I went back and pulled a raw rip off an old BBS mirror last year and there's a single frame around the 3 second mark where the light on the left strut shifts before the craft even moves. I sat there replaying it like twenty times thinking my eyes were broken. The upscale literally paints over that stuff, it smooths the weird parts into nothing. That's not a compression artifact, artifacts don't pick which frame to mess with and make the shadow behave. You're not crazy.
