My neighbor's balcony went from junk pile to best spot in the building in 3 weekends
Dude had bikes, a broken grill, and 6 milk crates stacked out there for a year, then cleared it and put down a $40 outdoor rug and two folding chairs. He said the trick was not buying any storage, just getting rid of stuff he hadn't touched since moving in. Anyone else notice clear space beats fancy furniture for small balconies?

Ha, my own balcony is currently a graveyard of things I swore I'd fix someday. Maybe I should just toss it all and sit on the floor instead.
