Took me 3 weeks to realize the dryer vent was the reason my bathroom always smelled musty
Moved into this place in March and every time I took a shower it smelled like wet dog afterwards. I scrubbed the grout, bought two dehumidifiers, replaced the shower curtain liner twice. Landlord kept saying it was "normal for old buildings." Finally my buddy came over and pointed at the dryer vent hose in the laundry closet. It was completely disconnected from the wall, blowing all that moist air right into the bathroom plumbing chase. One $8 clamp and 20 minutes later the smell was gone. Anybody else had a weird smell that turned out to be something totally unrelated? What's your dumbest fix that took way too long to find?
