Bought a $60 moisture meter that saved me three service callbacks

I picked up a Klein Tools moisture meter after getting sick of guessing on washer leaks and refrigerator icemaker issues. First job I used it on, a Whirlpool fridge with a puddle under the crisper, found the leak was from a cracked defrost drain pan I would have never spotted without it. Has anyone else found one of these tools worth the money, or did I just get lucky?

No way, a cracked defrost drain pan? That's such a hidden thing, I would have chased that leak for hours. Guess that meter paid for itself real quick on that one job alone. I'm seriously thinking about grabbing one now.

What kind of Klein did you get, the one with the pin probes or the pinless scanner? I borrowed a buddy's pinless one once and it was reading drywall as wet just from humidity alone, so I'm curious how picky yours is on actual leaks versus random damp spots.

Yeah I got the pinless one and honestly it's not bad if you know how to use it right.
