Control board on a Whirlpool washer just gave up with no warning signs
Had a call yesterday on a Whirlpool duet that just stopped mid-cycle with a dead display. No error codes, no clicking, nothing. Opened it up and found a burn mark right on the main control board near the power relay. Customer said it was only 4 years old and they never had issues before. Replaced the board with a refurb from a local supplier and it fired right up. Anyone else seeing these boards fail suddenly like this? I'm wondering if it's a bad batch from a specific year.
@gray875 yeah, "notoriously fragile" is putting it mildly. I had a friend with a 2021 model that died after a power flicker, and the repair cost was almost as much as a new unit. Hope yours holds up better than that.
