Customer at my Omaha shop said my repair notes were "useless to the next guy" and he was right
I had a lady pick up her dryer last month and she handed my work order back to me with a frown, saying the note just read "replaced part, works now." She runs a small rental property and said the next tech who opens that machine would have no idea what I touched or why. Since then I write down the part number, the reading I got before the fix, and what I saw inside, and it takes me maybe 90 extra seconds per ticket. Any of you keep a set format for your notes, or do you just scribble whatever comes to mind?
