Finally clued in that I was putting fridge compressors in wrong for like 5 years
I was swapping out a compressor on a Whirlpool side-by-side last Tuesday and noticed the new one had a different orientation for the terminals. My old mentor never mentioned it, I just always jammed them in the same way. Turns out I'd been bending those pins slightly every time, causing a slow leak. Anyone else ever realize a basic step they'd been messing up the whole time?

Bent those pins for years myself before figuring it out too.

Spent a whole afternoon trying to pick a lock with a pin shaped like a corkscrew once.

Did you ever manage to fix those pins without tearing everything apart and starting over? I swear I've spent more time trying to unbend tiny metal pieces than I have actually locking any of these locks, which is pretty sad when you think about it. There's nothing like staring at a pin that looks like a pretzel and pretending you can still use it, right? My first few attempts I just gave up and threw the whole kit across the room, had to go dig everything out from under the couch. What was your worst bent pin disaster?
