I used to test fridge thermostats with my bare hand, now I carry a $22 probe and feel silly about all of it
For about 3 years I would pull a fridge apart, grab the cold plate with my fingers, and guess if it was cold enough to rule out the thermostat, which cost me at least 2 callbacks on a job over in Council Bluffs. Bought a cheap digital probe thermometer in March and it showed me one of those fridges was actually sitting at 44 degrees while my hand swore it felt fine. So how do you guys check temps fast without dragging the whole toolkit in from the truck?
