Just realized those cheap multimeter test leads from Harbor Freight actually failed on me during a fridge compressor check last Tuesday.

I always thought they were fine for quick checks, but the insulation split near the probe and gave me a false open reading, which almost sent me down a wrong diagnostic path for over an hour. Has anyone found a decent mid-price brand that holds up?

It's crazy how your view can change once you've been through it yourself, @lily57. I had the exact same shift in thinking after a bad experience last year. You just don't get it until you're the one dealing with the fallout. Makes you wonder how many other things we judge without really understanding, right?
