The week I had to fix three different ice makers in a row

This past week was just one of those runs. Monday started with a call for a Whirlpool side-by-side that hadn't made ice in months. The customer said they'd tried everything. I found the fill tube completely frozen solid, a classic sign of a bad water inlet valve. Got that swapped out. Then on Wednesday, a GE French door model with a noisy, grinding sound. The auger motor was shot, and of course the part was backordered. The real kicker was Friday's job, a Samsung fridge where the ice maker assembly itself had a cracked housing, leaking water into the freezer. That one took over two hours just to get the whole unit out. It felt like the universe was testing me on one specific skill. Has anyone else had a string of calls that all seemed to be the exact same problem, just on different brands?

Yeah, but it's not just random luck. When you get the same job over and over, it feels like a pattern. Maybe all those fridges were made around the same time with the same weak parts. It makes you wonder if the whole batch is bad. It's more than just calls stacking up, it's like seeing a flaw get repeated.

Max223 has a point though, it's not always random. Sometimes a bad part really does get used in a whole bunch of units.

Three ice makers in a week is just a slow Tuesday for some guys. I knew a guy who worked on commercial units, and he'd see that before lunch. It's annoying for sure, but the universe isn't testing you, it's just how the calls stack up sometimes. Next week it'll be all broken dishwasher pumps or something.
