Took an old tech's advice on refrigerant, cost me a compressor
An old timer I met at a supply house in Phoenix swore by pulling vacuum for 45 minutes no matter what the gauges said. I followed that on a mini split last Tuesday and the compressor locked up two days later because the line set had a pinhole I missed. Has anyone else had a 'trust the veteran' tip backfire this bad?
Did you check the unit right before firing it up, or was it just trusting the vacuum time and calling it good? That pinhole crap is brutal though, sorry you got burned like that.
