Training apprentices felt slow, until one spotted a faulty wire I overlooked.
It made me APPRECIATE fresh eyes.

Saw a rig on I-80 last year where a loose battery cable caused a full electrical fire. Routine checks miss things all the time. What looks small to us can be a big deal, you know?

At the Johnson plant last year, a faulty wire just meant a quick fix, no big shutdown. I mean, sure, it's good the apprentice caught it, but how often does that stop a disaster? Most times, those things get caught in routine checks anyway. Fresh eyes help, but let's not act like it's a life-saving moment every time. Still, I get why you'd feel good about it, training paying off and all.
