Appreciation post: that ditch I dug 3 years ago finally changed
I found a before photo from 2021 of this drainage ditch on my property. It was just a muddy trench with rocks piled up. Nothing special. I was frustrated back then because water kept pooling in my yard after storms. This spring I went back to look at it after all that rain we had. The ditch has turned into a proper small stream bed with moss and ferns growing along the edges. Some wildflowers popped up too. It looks natural now like it's always been there. The rocks settled into place and stopped shifting around. Took about 3 years for everything to really establish. Anyone else have a landscape project that took way longer to look good than you expected?

Dude same here. Was out hiking last weekend and sat by this old oak tree for like 20 minutes just watching ants drag crumbs around. Felt stupid at first but honestly it was kind of peaceful seeing how slow everything moves when it's on its own clock. Definitely beats rushing through life all the time. What kind of nature stuff do you usually slow down for?

Haha for real though. My buddy Mark told me he once spent an hour just watching a spider fix its web after a rainstorm. Said it got torn twice before it was done and he was actually rooting for the little guy. Your mileage may vary but I feel like that kind of patience wears off on you after a while.
