Dropped a 2000 year old sherd in the lab yesterday and watched it shatter into six pieces
Had to spend three hours with archival glue and a microscope putting it back together, has anyone else had a lab accident that made them want to crawl under the table?

Jump right in there with that glue and patience, huh? Feels like every time you try to handle something fragile that's survived for centuries, the universe just dares you to drop it. It's like a bigger pattern with anything old or expensive - the moment you get it fixed or restored, you're extra careful for a while, then your guard slips again. Same thing happens with my phone screen protector - spend 20 minutes getting it on perfect, then next week I drop it on concrete and watch it crack in slow motion. That sherd was probably getting way more love from you those three hours than it got in its last 500 years in the dirt.

i saw a post where someone dropped a roman coin and spent hours picking it up off the floor.

Drop a 2000-year-old coin and suddenly every minute feels like an archaeological dig.
