I swore I'd never use a bread machine until mine saved me after 3 failed hand-kneaded loaves in one week.
I was at my wit's end in my tiny apartment kitchen after ruining batch after batch with overproofed dough, but the $40 thrift store bread machine I grabbed on a whim turned out perfect sandwich bread on the first try and now I'm wondering if I was just being stubborn.

@phoenix573, don't you miss the feel of real dough though? Bread machines just do it all for you.

The hand-kneading elitism is real but so overrated. I spent years thinking I was supposed to feel some kind of zen connection with dough or whatever, but honestly my bread machine makes better crust than I ever got from slapping dough around on my counter. Plus you can throw everything in at night, set the timer, and wake up to fresh bread without having to plan your whole day around a 3 hour rise time. The thrift store finds are the best too, I got mine for $25 and it came with the little paddle thing still in there.
