I was phrasing every question on here like a Google search until a friend pointed it out
He said 'You sound like a robot, just ask what you mean' after reading my post about router settings. How do you break that habit of over-explaining?

Watched my buddy do this exact thing in our group chat. He typed three long sentences asking where we wanted to eat, listing every possible option and his own dietary limits. I just replied "pizza?" and he got the hint. Now he tries to say the main thing first, then adds details only if we ask. What's the hardest type of question for you to phrase simply?

Asking for help always makes me over-explain.

My friend had to stage an intervention for my text messages. I'd write a whole paragraph to ask if he was free Friday, including my open schedule and backup days. He finally said "just send 'free Friday?'" It sounds dumb but I practiced by typing the short version first and not letting myself hit send until I deleted all the extra junk. The hardest ones for me are asking for favors, my brain starts listing all the reasons why I need it before even saying what I want.
