Just found out my tap water has more microplastics than bottled

I was reading a study from Orb Media and learned that 93% of bottled water samples had microplastic fibers in them. Even crazier, my own tap water tested at 4.8 particles per liter, which is lower than the bottled stuff I used to buy. Anyone else check their local water report lately?

Yeah I read that Orb study too, kinda wild how bottled water actually has more plastic in it.

my friend sarah works at a convenience store and she told me the pallets of water come in and sit in the back room which is like an oven in summer. she said one time she checked the temp back there with a thermometer and it was 95 degrees easy. the bottles were warm to the touch just sitting there. she started buying a reusable bottle after that because it freaked her out knowing all that time the plastic was basically cooking into the water before anyone even bought it. and then you grab it from the fridge at the store and think it's fine but it's already been through who knows how many hot truck rides and warehouse days.

ok but what gets me is nobody talks about how those plastic bottles sit in hot warehouses and delivery trucks for weeks before you even buy them. like the heat literally makes the plastic leach more into the water over time. i saw a study once that showed water stored at 100 degrees had way higher plastic levels than the same brand stored cool. also bottled water companies don't have to test for microplastics the same way tap water utilities do which is insane to me. feels like a total blind spot in the whole debate.
